Teaching kids what sexuality is… isn’t grooming, neither is teaching them about gender. You don’t give enough credit to kids either, they can understand more than you think.
In fact, many people know who they are before they have the words to explain it, and since nobody talks about it, they automatically assume there is something wrong with them.
Please don’t misuse the word grooming, it is harmful to victims. Grooming is when someone builds a relationship, trust and emotional connection with a child or young person so they can manipulate, exploit and abuse them. Children and young people who are groomed can be sexually abused, exploited or trafficked.
It isn’t teaching someone about concepts and words to describe themselves so that they know feelings they have are normal. It isn’t telling someone to accept others even though they have two mommies.
It isn’t giving someone life saving treatments that they both consent to and have wanted for multiple years.
