*the next event is set up with a tall climbing wall*

'of course they'd do that.....prevents anyone with flight or high jumps an easy win......my quirk might not be much use in that case but at least they're putting us in harnesses so that we aren't hurt if we fall...'

"probably a lawsuit thing since this is a school-sanctioned event"

*a blonde boy pushes into devin's shoulder, nearly knocking them off the wall*

*one of their feathers comes out and cuts at the boy's arm, causing him to lose his balance*

*one misstep and suddenly the wall is covered in ice, people begin sliding around but it doesn't seem to stop devin from taking advantage of this. they climb as if nothing happened*

Akuma: familiar..

*the ice thaws and someone activates another trap that causes the harnesses to come undone catching many off guard*
"in real life you don't get a harness!"

Akuma: now that's what I'm talking about!

*about half the group is eliminated*

Akuma: finally

*devin reaches the buzzer and hits it*

Akuma: ..

"coming in first again we have Takami!"

Akuma: Devin Takami..

*devin goes back to the room to rest*

Akuma: *returns to that room* not too shabby, I must say, Takami.

"it's going to be a tournament round....."

*blocks the explosions with their wings and counter attacks with a bombardment of dagger like feathers*

*the boy dodges a few but ends up with quite a few scratches and gashes*

*let off a very large explosion that sends devin flying back almost landing out of the threshold. as they get up, their posture is wobbly and they clutch one of their ears as it bleeds*

Akuma: don't you dare give up, Tamaki!

*the boy launches another attack just as devin gets past the shock of the last one, narrowly dodging it and rolling out of the way, as they do they grin*

Akuma: ...

*pulls themself together and stands straight up*

Akuma: you got this.

*dodging the next attack they pivot and grab the boy's collar and bring him down to the ground*

Akuma: ..

*devin's temperature goes hot and you can see smoke coming off their body as they hold him down with their foot, ready to finish him off*

Akuma: ultimate move..?

*blue fire spreads across their body and burns the boy while spreading across the arena, when the air calms you see them stand victorious with very severe burns as the crowd looks in shock.*

Akuma: ... Acceptable.

"our winner is Devin Takami!"
"g-good...." *crumples to the ground*

Akuma: *sighs*

*they are taken to the infirmary*

Akuma: *knocks on the door* am I free to come in?

"yeah....."
