Well, one of my favorite ways to make warriors stories, is to take one of the many controversial corners of the code, starclan, etc, and work those into the story. Make a corrupt STC canon in your story. Tell it from the point of view of a STC devotee who's just starting to see the flaws of their deities.
Alternatively, you could make ocs based on other fandoms. Of course, don't copy the character word for word, but I find it makes creating a character a lot easier having an already great character as an outline. I love it when folks recognize the inspiration behind some of my characters.
Lastly, random generators can be fun if you can't think of any ideas or characters to go off of. They offer unique names, designs, and ideas. If you want a truly unique character, but can't think of anything, they're your best bet.
