That's way better than the first person I came out to, I came out to him by asking him out and it was not a good idea
But just try to be nice about it, don't make it seem like you're forcing them to bow to your every gay need or anything

that might work as well, Im just not sure I have the confidence to come out in person

just make sure they support by seeing how they react to someone else being gay
