Show me the book. I also once saw a painting of a squider being chased by a large reptilian-esque creature.

the cave painting was from the modern squiders, not the ancient ones. Translation of this has been very hard, but asking modern squiders for help on translation may speed up the process.
Squider
(Arachnoteuthis Sapiens); Arachnid Cephalopod; Beach Flora, Fauna and Fungi; 5'7 (Male)
5'2 (Female); Low; The Squiders are an intelligent species of cephalopod that are in the late stone/early bronze age of Civilization. The Squider's intelligence is on par with that of humanity. Despite being highly advanced in the weaponry department, they are a peaceful species who is more than glad to interact with mankind.
