This happened in New Zealand, so it's a story from a friend, and it's a true story

So for some context, New Zealand recently had a really bad flood, and before my friend realized there was a flood he plan to go play some board games with some friends.

So he got to a bus to the place but he realized it was raining. So he texted his friends that it was raining and one of them said that they couldn't come because their power just went out. Didn't take much note on it, just decided to keep going and accept that one of them couldn't come play board games. But after a while of waiting his other friend that well call d told him that she had parked somewhere and asked him to meet with her and go on a different bus. He just accepted this and started traveling to the place that I was.

He finally managed to get to the place, but by the time he got there it was absolutely pouring.He got into D's car and they talked for a bit about the rain. They decided to still try and go to the place and they started driving to the board game Building. As they got closer to the road they were taking though, a woman near her house wearing her pajamas and holding an umbrella started waving at them from her house as they were traveling. She ran up to their car and tapped on their window and told them to stop and how it was super flooded. They decided to turn around, but all the other roads were very flooded as well. They ended up deciding that d would go home in her car because it was flooding, and he would just grab a bus home. So he ran to the nearest bus station and started waiting for a bus. ( this is where he called his family, but a lot of drama happened there that I'm not going to explain, but he ended up missing a couple of buses trying to talk with them)

So anyways he tries to get on to the bus at 7(pm), but it's out of Transportation and can't pick anyone up. So is the next bus. And the next. He starts considering calling D to try and pick him up, as d had said that if he got really stuck and there was no buses that she could try and get him, but then a bus pulls up that actually was picking up people. He ran up to the bus driver and asks if we're actually going to the correct destination, and this bus driver turns to him. He turns with sparkly blue eyes and looked a little too young to even be driving the bus, and says, AND I QUOTE "were gonna try."

So the bus driver starts driving to a couple of other stops and just keeps picking people up while saying the same exact thing to anyone who asks. After they pass a bus stop that had no power or electricity, they keep going and realize the next part starts getting really flooded. He just Sighs and says that we're just going to try and push forward through the floodwater. To give an example on how high the water is it literally starts pouring onto the floor. ( only a tiny bit though. ) so they pushed through the floodwaters and keep driving, until they come across a very flooded area. He stops and just accepts that they can't go any further and it's too risky. But then he sees something. In the middle of all this flood water, there is a single bus that tried going and ended up getting stuck ( and it had been there for a while too, it was completely empty.) so he tries to reverse back.

And New Zealand has certain bus lanes that are slightly higher than the Road, so he couldn't turn around at all. He had to REVERSE THROUGH THE FLOODWATER FOR 20 mins to the last stop. But as they're about halfway through, he realizes something. ( for some reference the bus radio had been running the entire time. ) almost all the Eastern buses that had been going east were running perfectly fine. So new plan they decide once they get to the bus stop they're going to try and go east instead and go to the city that way.

And then.

They hear the dreaded words over the bus radio.

"STOP ALL BUSSES, ITS TOO DANGEROUS."

And so all the people on the bus start signing and getting upset realizing that they won't be able to make it home. But then,The probably-best-maybe-not-even-a-real-bus driver, turns off the radio so they can't hear him, and says "Im breaking a lot of rules today.
So they continue.
They go through the East and pass the roads and onto the bridge. And he can't even tell if he's about to crash into anything either because if he turns on the radio everybody's going to know that he's driving and tell him just turn off the bus. So then, after they get past the bridge, he turns on the radio and casualy says " hey I'm on the bridge right now near the bus stop on vhehcisjbfukds city, is the road clear?"
silence. For 20 seconds.

they then hear over the radio: Yep. All clear.

and so,They finally make it to the bus stop and everybody makes it home. Everybody thinks the strange bus driver for saving everybody and getting everybody home.
