The pope didn't read the bible, the bible clearly says it. 50 years ago, everyone knew it was a sin, now that the culture is more accepting of it, the pope felt like he had to "change".

And as Darth Tricera said, the pope is a Catholic leader, but God is a Christian leader. Catholicism is not the same thing as Christianity, there some similarities, but multiple differences.

What you are saying about changing and adjusting to fit the worldview right now is extremely unbiblical. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2).
This verse is basically saying that we should not change based on what the word says, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. The Bible is the word of God, and it does not change. If you believe that is not the case, you most likely believe the prosperity gospel.

It was not men who wrote the Bible, it was God who came and told his children what to write in the Bible. In Revelation, we see John, and he is writing what will happen in the future through visions in the heavens from God. Similar actions were probably done for the other books.
