It’s an unpopular opinion. Trump being a dummy is superficial. If he was really a dummy how could he become president? he remain above the law his whole life? You think anybody with bucks can do that? It defies logic!

I choose to believe it's more complicated than either. Trump is no moron, but he's no super villain. He's human, and we have an uncanny ability to be simultaneously dumb and cunning, opportunistic and blind, genius and obtuse. His Presidency, if nothing else, was a good example of that.

I think a lot of people need him to be a dummy to support their belief structures.
