Am I the only one that thinks this?

I don't really understand why race is an issue for who represents Captain America. Captain America should be represented by his or hers good qualities that made Steve such a great Captain America. Examples: patriotism, courage, honesty, goodness, etc... A person could be a minority yet a crappy Captain America. I feel that it's more about your character and not your race.
I know it's controversial, but this is just how I feel.
