The player has a few different ways to move around, including:
-Walking / Running
-Crouching
-Pouncing / Diving / Crouch Jumping
-Backflipping

The player can pick up and throw objects, including:
Spears
Rubbish
Explosive Spears
Bombs
Pain Cones
And more.

The player can eat food to gain food pips.
Some edible items include:
Blue Fruit
Centipedes (Small)
Batflies

Another mechanic is the Rain.
The Rain comes down every ~10 minutes. All creatures caught in the Rain are killed. The only ways to avoid the Rain:
-Be in Depths (Late-game area)
-Be on top of The Wall (Mid to late-game area)
-Be in a Shelter
Shelters are small rooms found in every area of the game (With the exception of Depths).
They provide safety from the Rain, and the Slugcat can hibernate in them. The Slugcat needs enough food pips to hibernate, or they will starve. Whenever you die as Monk or Survivor, you respawn at the last shelter you hibernated in.

Karma.
The Karma system is what allows or denies the player access to gates. The player’s Karma goes up by one every time they hibernate, and down by one every time they die. Five Pebbles increases the player’s max Karma to the absolute maximum when encountered. Echos also increase the player’s Karma, but only by two for the first one encountered, and one for all Echos encountered after the first. Karma Flowers spawn at the location of the player’s last death, but can also be found in set locations throughout the map. Eating a Karma Flower makes it so that the next time the player dies, their Karma doesn’t go down.

2.
Iterators are the AI’s encountered in the game and found in lore. In the game’s lore, there are at least 7 Iterators. However, only two can be encountered in-game: Five Pebbles and Looks to the Moon. The Iterators were created by the Ancients to solve a “Great problem” that had something to do with ascension.

Monk and Survivor are the two playable characters unlocked from the start of a save.
Monk is an easy difficulty, and Survivor is a normal difficulty.

Monk:
-Has to eat 3 pieces of food to hibernate, 5 total food pips.
-Encounters less enemies than Survivor.
-Jumps down to save Survivor in the starting cutscene.
-Encounters Survivor in the ending cutscene.
-Does less damage with spears. (0.9)

Enemies are less hostile as Monk.

Survivor:
-Has to eat 4 pieces of food to hibernate, 7 total food pips.
-Encounters more enemies than Monk.
-Falls off a platform and into some water during a heavy rainstorm in the starting cutscene.
(I don’t know what the ending cutscene is like as Survivor.)
-Does more damage with spears than Monk.

Enemies have normal hostility as Survivor.

-Can carry two spears. One on his back, one in his hand.
-Carnivorous. Can eat the bodies of enemies, which Survivor and Monk cannot.
-Has a permadeath.
-Starts in Farm Arrays.
-Encounters enemies Survivor and Monk don’t.
-Starts with a spear, green neuron, and pearl.
-Encounters more enemies than Survivor and Monk.
-Does more damage with spears than Survivor and Monk.
-Starts on cycle 19, with 3 Karma.
-Requires 7 (I think) food pips to hibernate, 10 total.

Enemies are more hostile as Hunter.
