I guess this was a reason to have Jerboa delete animus magic, but... they could've made it where only animus magic could be used for good intent.

The ideas of good and evil are abstract, we learn this with Darkstalker. He thought what he was doing was good/right for his tribe and enslaving everyone else was the natural order. What one person defines as good/necessary, another could see it as evil/unnecessary. Thus the deletion of magic, I think explicitly animus dragon magic. We haven’t seen if humans are capable of magic yet unless that’s noted in that one book that follows the humans who killed oasis. (I’m assuming that’s what that book is, I haven’t read it)

Yes, then how-about, you cannot cast a spell that will harm someone or/and you cannot cast a spell that is not positive.

Damn, only spells using electricity can be casted now.

Jokes aside the same thing applies. I believe the spell explicitly said animus magic was not able to be casted. If dragons began to call dragons with magic under a different name, theoretically; they could still cast magic.

Damn I made the same comparison in a paragraph comparing all conflicts to major wars. The Sandwing Succession is kind of War of the Henry’s (probably not the right name, I just remember there were three guys named Henry all fighting for the throne at one point, might even have the country wrong) in France mixed with a little bit of War of the Spanish Succession mixed with World War 1 in terms of cause.

But other than that, yeah. It doesn’t take much to radicalize people. And dragons apparently. What feels off is that the enchantment feels like it gets amplified later.

Even with the magic, Quibli still thought something was wrong and asked Turtle to enchant him an earring to nullify all of Darkstalker’s spells on the wearer.

Only three tribes were even in contact with him in the first place, and Quibli appears to be the only one because he’s a main character. They may have been other dragons who came under the spell but were skeptical as well.

I doubt that others were skeptical, everyone went all googoo eyed when they met Darkstalker

The book mentions there were nightwings who stayed in the rainforest because their fear of both Darkstalker and Glory counteracted his spell.

And I think the logic behind this is that Qibli is smarter and therefore partially immune to mind spells?

And there are probably dragons who are as smart as Quibli that aren’t mentioned because they aren’t the main character of the arc, or play very minor roles.

That’s true. I think Quibli is more skeptical though since he lived in the Scorpion den. That’s probably why he didn’t fall for Darkstalker and was the first one to pick up on that something was wrong.
