"Mom, Dad..." She said, taking a deep breath. Her parents sitting in front of her, listening intently. Here it is, the moment of truth.
"I'm transgender."
She saw their eyes widen, her mother opened her mouth but uttered nothing. Elliot felt her stomach twist itself into knots, what are they gonna say? Are they gonna support her?
"El-Elliot..." Her mother gasped.
"It's Elizabeth.. actually....." She clarified. "And.. I just... want.. wanna know if you uh.. accept me f-for who I am..."
Her parents didn't look so thrilled at the moment. Oh god.. are they gonna throw her out? It was possible, it's happened to her friend, Max, when he came out as gay.
"Elizabeth..." Her dad said. Elizabeth's eyes lit up with joy, it was the first time she heard her dad call her by her chosen name. Was he finally supporting her?
"Go to your room." He continued. "We'll.. we'll talk about this later."
"But.. but why?"
"Please."
Elizabeth wanted to burst into tears. What's happening? Do they not support her? But he seemed so supportive. She walked to her room, feeling empty.
