I was very excited to be able to capture this image this morning, what you see is what was there.
These types of photos are my favorite,so I pay close attention to what works best in these situations thru experimentation. Surprisingly for sun rises and sunsets plus sky's in general the auto setting with no flash works best for me. The reason is these moments are very fleeting and you don't have a lot of time I took 10 pretty quick photos and it was all gone all of it!. what is most important is your camera angle, the sky is the focal point so I position my camera with 90% sky 10% horizon works best for me.
I started the night before checking the weather, sun rise times ect. and when it does happen its always 20 t0 30 min before sun rise for the most colors. and don't forget you have to put in the effort.
this shot I was out by a field 6:50 am 15 degrees freezing my butt off running around my car for the right angle LOL then a school buss went by and ruined one shot. I highly recommend set her on auto flash off experiment and have fun for a while first. sorry its so long.
