After more fast food restaurants pop up, Mr. Krabs and his business go threateningly close to bankruptcy. After consulting Spongebob and Squidward about the idea, not wanting to change the base formula after previous results (the episode "goodbye krabby patty"), Squidward mentions how him and an old friend he broke ties with got kicked out of college in first year for cooking methamphetamine (Squidward turns out to be an excellent chemist). Mr. Krabs takes on the idea, and finds out that Squidward has lost his touch in making them but remembers how to; Spongebob doesn't even know what meth is until then, but excels at making it.
Mr. Krabs becomes desperate for the money and now even greedier from the profits of meth, squidward becomes uneasy as they become more known in the Bikini Botttom gangs (a moral compass, like Jesse), and Spongebob finds himself conflicting with a side of him that enjoys sadism and crime.
