Airy is literally gas. The only thing he is capable of is changing what kind of gas he is. He was made at the beginning of the universe as hydrogen and helium gas. He wandered throughout the universe to find a home until he found a completely white planet that was completely smooth. He decided to make this his home and he turned into the lithium gas that was prevalent at that planet. That was until the planet cooled down and the lithium started condensing and solidifying. To not die from turning into a not gas, he left the planet and wandered the universe again. He kept finding hot planets and returning to his favorite gaseous lithium state, but they always cooled down after a few million or billion years. Then he found an ideal planet, where it was close to its star and was already very hot. He stayed there until he started looking at the other planets, which some had life. Airy thought nothing of this until he found some that landed on his planet. They didn't do much, but soon they started cooling it down. Airy left the planet with a new distaste for life. He soon found another planet, this time alone on a binary system, in which he still resides.
