They actually had a good shot

They thought they had a good shot but really the only way they could have won was if Russia fought against the allies. Additionally, the invasion of Poland barely succeeded with the help of Russia, the invasion of France was mostly luck. The attack through the Ardennes Forest was a gamble and could have gone wrong. And finally, the invasion of Denmark, Norway, and Yugoslavia are not really that impressive.

Their was other ways the Germans could have won at one point the entire allied force was against Britain and in the battle of Britain the Nazis almost won they outnumbered the British and it was only lost by hitlers own stupidity when he started bombing London plus in the beginning of the invasion of Russia the Germans crushed the Russians in circling hundreds of thousands of troops and that was when they were fighting a 2 front war it was only when Hitler again was stupid and attacked Stalingrad purley beacause of its name the German army was very capable more capable than the British and the French because of its armament and training and doctrine were superior and even though the invasions of Yugoslavia and others may not have been that impressive they were still pulled of with extreme efficiency
