so i’m not a professional in fact i’m only 14 i just try to keep myself updated on this kind of stuff
but based on the info the most likely thing i could think of is schizophrenia (you can ask harley about it if you want, he has it) but schizophrenic people normally have these symptoms their whole life, and it doesn’t seem like this is a normal thing for your bf. i would definitely recommend seeing some kind of professional- i know it’s hard to talk to professionals but this definitely seems like more of a “severe, treatment needed” thing than something he could handle on his own. if it is schizophrenia or a similar illness, he’s more likely to get meds to help than therapy/counseling, since it’s not usually something that can be fixed by getting therapy
although i still recommend therapy to everyone who can afford it
but i would recommend going to a psychiatrist or even a normal doctor who can refer him to a psychiatrist if his insurance (if any) doesn’t cover it
if he doesn’t have insurance, i would recommend looking into metrocare
again, i’m not certified in any way this is just what i would do
