a hate crime is when its like violent or some shit
like is some guy starts targeting blacks, asians, jews, natives, whites violently its a hate crime
so say if a black guy commits genocide on whites or native for their skin color, its a hate crime
and if a native kills an asian or black bcuz of their skin, its a hate crime
but hate crimes are only charged if you attack someone
so you can be a neo nazi or part of the kkk and you wont be charged unless you attack a person for their skin color
but if you call someone the n word or any other slurs, its not charged because it would be violating our first amendment aka freedom of speech
same thing with being in a hate group (nazis and kkk) if you were charged for being in there, it would violate first amendment (freedom of belief/religion)
but there will be consequences
i believe such are not being able to own any weapons and whatever
