bitches don't know SHIT about hk lore. i'm pretty sure Radiance had the kingdom before PK, and PK basically stole the bugs from Radiance and trapped her in the dream realm, so Radiance got mad and started infecting the bugs. also, the Mantis Tribe never got infected, and they opposed the Radiance. Ogrim (Dung / White Defender) also never got infected. PK started creating vessels, trying to get a truly hollow one, eventually succeeding. PK spent time training the vessel (possibly with the Colosseum of Fools and called it The Hollow Knight. PK later trapped Radiance inside THK and locked it inside the Black Egg, after convincing the 3 Dreamers to fall into an eternal sleep to defend THK from anyone that might try to kill it or whatever. later, Radiance infected THK, because THK wasn't truly hollow. THK had one single memory / thought, and that's because it made eye contact with PK at some point. Radiance used this to take over THK's body and get infection outside of the Black Egg, causing the entire kingdom to fall to ruin as PK fled the scene, going to his throne to sit there and die of an unknown cause.
