Well… if the hands are in that position and the person pushes them down and up repeatedly at times it is a possible sign of autism (it’s a stimming behaviour and helps the person to cope with sensory overload or other stressors).
There are autists and aspergians who make anime and manga professionally, as well as others who enjoy making their own or just enjoying viewing them.
Some people self-diagnose as being on the spectrum too. It seems that these cases usually have some credibility. There is under diagnosis historically, especially in girls because their masking behaviours are more developed. (I have heard some people describe themselves as “late onset Asperger’s. These people, in my observation, were probably undiagnosed in childhood and should really see a specialist who can explain it better to them).
Asperger’s in particular tends to become less symptomatic into adulthood. Tony Atwood describes cases of “ghosting” of Asperger’s, in which you really need to look carefully to note any signs.
