Roleplay to playtest a character of mine. I may take a couple of days to respond, schools rough.

Mara stares at the door, then at the scythe, then back at the door.
"...well I'm certainly doomed."
Mara slowly approaches the door, moves the scythe out of the way, and then opens the door.

[A one-winged beast-type greeted Mara as she opened the door. The eyes on her tail were fixed on Mara.] "Hello," [The beast-type had a gentle and melodious voice. She chuckled slightly] "I need my scythe back, please."

“Oh!”
Mara picks up the scythe and holds it out to Yumeikage.
“I didn’t know this belonged to anybody… I just found it.”

[Yumeikage lightly grabbed the scythe from Mara. She held it in her clawed, shell incased paw.] "Between you and me, Papermoon has a tendency to get lost," [Yumeikage said with a sheepish smile,] "So I gotta look for him a lot. Say," [Yumeikage lost the sheepish smile, instead looking slightly concerned,] "Besides Papermoon, you didn't see any weird stuff, right?"

“…do freaky creatures and creepy shadows count as weird stuff?”

[Cringing slightly, Yumeikage nodded. She muttered to herself,] "Ooh, this is not good..."

“…is- is something bad gonna happen to me-?”

"There is a chance," [Yumeikage said, eyeing her surroundings. The eyes on her tail were still focused on Mara,] "But unless they think your dangerous, you might be okay, I mean, everyone else was. I think."

“…you don’t sound very sure…”

[Yumeikage sighed, the eyes on 'Papermoon' blinking for the first time Mara could remember.] "Well, when you come in contact with a strong supernatural or magic item, like Papermoon here," [Yumeikage gestured to the scythe before continuing,] "You may develop a sixth sense, which is really rare, but..." [A pause. Yumeikage looked at the ground before continuing,] "Here we possibly are."

"...what exactly does this sixth sense do?"

"It means that you can see and interact with supernatural beings, both good and bad," [Yumeikage explained,] "People usually don't have much of, I don't know, sixth sense to begin with, but of course that can always change."

"Supernatural beings? Like... ghosts, demons, that kinda stuff?"

[Yumeikage smiled a small smile.] "If that's so, then I guess we should get going. If I'm gonna teach you, you'll have to be registered by the Shinigami's Order," [Yumeikage picked up Papermoon. It blinked several times.] "I don't think you'll need to pack, but you can if you want."

"I don't really have anything worth bringing. Let's get going."

"Alright then," [Yumeikage swung Papermoon away from the door with four strokes. A portal slowly began to form, a rectangular shape surrounded by a material like plasma. Yumeikage gestured at the portal.] "Ah, well, here we are."

"Woah, cool..."

((Sorry for the late reply, my internet was down for a while))
[Yumeikage gestured to the portal.] "It might feel a little cold walking through for the first time," [She said, placing Papermoon on her back again,] "But I think you'll get used to it after a while. With a coat, maybe."

Mara nods. She quickly grabs a scarf and puts it on before stepping through the portal.

[It would feel like walking through the autumn air, but only for a moment, as Mara crossed the portal and into the Spirit Realm. It looked similar to her world, but instead of people loomed strange and unusual creatures not unlike the ones she saw while she had Papermoon in her possession, though some seemed like normal people. There were very few beast-types besides Yumeikage. Here, the sky was pure red, and an ivory crescent moon hung overhead. Clouds and stars were absent.] "Here we are," [Yumeikage said with a small wave of her paw,] "The Spirit Realm." [She pointed to a tall building that wasn't in the normal world, taller than even the skyscrapers. It looked like two horns that twisted and curled, though it had clear black windows giving it a geometric shape.] "That's where the counsel resides. You'll be able to become an apprentice there." [Yumeikage smiled a small smile.] "I'll give you a minuet to, I don't know, process all this."

Mara looks around, her eyes wide.
"...this is... wow..."

"Pretty much," [Yumeikage said with a nod,] "The list of stuff you can see now is, well, ah, a lot more than just demons and ghosts. Though..." [Yumeikage's voice dipped into a thoughtful tone,] "That really depends on how strong your sixth sense is..."

"...you seem to know a lot about this stuff..."

"I had a good mentor," [Yumeikage said, staring wistfully at the red sky,] "She taught me a lot about this stuff. Ha, I was just as confused then as you are now."

"...It's probably a lot to ask, but... could you teach me?"

"Teach?!" [Yumeikage echoed in surprise, her ears standing straight up.] "Well, I could, but I mean... this is a life path, ah, a lot of things will change for you if your serious about this... not forever, maybe, but for a while... things just won't be the same."

"I'm fine with that... I could use a change of pace."
Mara smiles.
"C'mon! Maybe it'll even be fun!"

"My job is actually pretty dangerous," [Yumeikage admitted,] "You have to fight dangerous spirits called Vonkai, you'd have to learn how to use supernatural weapons too. It's not easy," [Yumeikage said with a shake of her head,] "Of course there is some good stuff about being a Shinigami, but I want to warn you of all the bad stuff too."

"I'm sick of easy. Nothing you say is gonna discourage me."
Mara has an incredibly stubborn and determined look in her eye.

[After a pause, Yumeikage sighed and shrugged.] "Well, I guess it can't be helped. Ah, do you have anyone you'd want to say goodbye to?"

Mara shakes her head.
"I've been on my own for a while, so no."

Aries- uhh...*walks over and opens the door carefully*

[On the other side of the door stood a one-winged beast-type with black and white hair. The eyes on her tail seemed to focus on the door and the surroundings before focusing on Aries.] "Hello," [She said in a gentle, almost quiet voice,] "I need my scythe back."

Aries- oh so that's what it is...*picks it up gently and hands it to her* here you go.

[For the first time Aries could remember, the eyes on the scythe blinked when it was handed over to Yumeikage.] "People confuse Papermoon all the time," [She said with a light chuckle.] "Once, someone thought it was meant to be the beak of a bird."

Aries- heh. *Smiles*

[Yumeikage smiled back, though hers looked slightly nervous.] "I do have to ask you something though. Ah, think of it as protocol."

Aries- ok ask away your question.

[Yumeikage muttered something among the lines of remembering the exact phrasing of a question and company protocols.] "Alright," [She said after a moment,] "While Papermoon was in your company, did you see or encounter... peculiar-looking creatures and unusual figures?"

Aries- oh yeah plenty of them.

[Yumeikage cringed.] "That... that is actually... less than stellar news."

Aries- well I mean they didn't bother me but yeah they were kinda weird.

"Have you ever seen them before finding Papermoon?" [Yumeikage tilted her head to the side,] "Like, maybe when you were a kid and you saw some weird animal at the playground thing?"

Aries- I actually did see something weird one time...it...*sigh* it seemed to want me dead I think.

[Yumeikage tilted her head.] "Did you ever get a good look at it?"

Aries- not really it kind just looked.like a figure with slight outlines of what I think is it's face.

"With that kind of description, it could be anything," [Yumeikage said as Papermoon blinked.] "Vonkai, I don't know, maybe even a demon with some random grudge against you," [Yumeikage tapped one of her paws in a motion mimicking someone counting of their fingers,] "Geez, maybe it's a Hound."

Aries- I mean I have summoned a lemon before and I probably kicked something I wasn't supposed to.

"A lemon?" [Echoed a confused Yumeikage,] "Well, if that's true, you might be a... ah, what do you call them...?"

Aries- a witch?

"Not necessarily," [Yumeikage mused,] "Witches usually have, ah, what's the word..." [Yumeikage clapped her paws together, Papermoon blinking,] "A familiar. Lots of familiars are like household pets, but, you know, they can be pretty much anything living."

(nah ur good my wifi goes out sometimes as well) aries- what's a familiar?

"A familiar is kinda like a companion to help you out," [Yumeikage explained, gazing at Papermoon,] "A lot of people associate them with witches, cause, well, they are with witches a lot, but anyone can have a familiar. Well, if you want to be really technical, you could say Papermoon is my familiar."

Aries- ohh ok. How would you find your familiar if you have one?

[Yumeikage shook her head,] "You can't find your familiar," [She said,] "It's a lot like making a friend. You both have to establish a bond, then when, um, friends, I guess, you can ask that person if they want to be your familiar. Ultimately, it's all up to them, so there's always the possibility that they can say no if they don't want to."

Aries- oh ok. so technically anyone can be a familiar.

[Yumeikage nodded, carefully leaning Papermoon on the door. Papermoon blinked in response.] "Technically."

Aries- huh interesting... Anyway why is the sky more red than it should be?
