As Guy sat with the men, he suddenly got an idea.
“We need to take action against this new society.” he said. “If we sit around, surviving in the wilderness without using our knowledge, books will die out just the same. We need to overtake the firefighters and destroy all book-destroying tools. I know the code to get into my old station, and if we gather all the men along the railroad tracks, we could put up a good fight.”
One of the men, the War of The Worlds and the book of Psalms, said “Why, are you out of your mind? We’d get burnt as soon as we entered the city, especially with you. Besides, we can hand the knowledge down to our-“.
“OUR CHILDREN AREN'T ENOUGH! Everyone needs books, and if we don’t do anything, they won’t get them!” Guy said.
After a long night of arguing, the men reluctantly agreed. As they walked along the track, they stumbled upon a camp, smaller than even them, comprised of three people: a white man with green eyes, a black woman who looked as if she was filled with chronic anger and forgot to say “when”, and a pale child with deep blue eyes capable of enticing the most heartless men. As they were talking about Guy’s plan, the woman pulled out a strange object. It was a long stick, partially made of metal, and it had a hole on one end, where the woman put a metal ball in. She called it a “Muskrat”, and she said it would help. The child then pulled out a kitchen knife, and the man a pump-action shotgun.
As they were now ready, they started their plan. The small camp armed with firearms went into town and started to wreak havoc, shooting their guns into the crowd to cause panic, now here, now there. Then, while the police were distracted, the more tech-savvy ones hacked the billboards to display book passages, and the radios to read the most controversial works of literature. The others broke into the fire stations and grabbed torches. As they were doing this, however, they were slowly herded by the firefighters into the town square. As they fought off the torch-wielding men, Guy felt something was… off. As they fought, there were now 25 firemen left, now 15, now 10, now 5, until there was only one left. Guy threw an axe into the man’s head, and then he woke up.
He was in a black room, laying on what resembled a hospital bed. There was a man dressed in black at his side. The man said “ Hello, Guy. I am a member of the Introductory Assessment Team, or the IAT. You see, you are trapped in an eternal loop of the same week unti
