wait what is the truth?

i have a few theories.

i have watched some minecraft youtube lore videos, and constructed a theory that the illagers and villagers used to live together in the city, something went wrong, sculk was created, the "portal" is not a portal but perhpas an antenna for their redstone experiments. idk yet.

I made this theory right when it came out, the illagers made sculk to get more souls for their dark experiments. Of course, it went wrong and the sculk evolved and they were driven out to the woodland mansions. The Redstone tests and failed portal were simply their first experiments. P.S. The warden is called the warden because it IS a warden to the souls in its chest.

Maybe it could be a portal tho. Hopes for 1.21.

It's possible that they're adding it in 1.20 but decided to happen

Microsoft legitimately said VERY CLEARLY that they are not adding a new dimension till ALL current ones are overhauled. Until we get an End update, we are not getting a new dimension.

my theory of ancient cities is that there was an advanced ancient culture capable of amazing redstone and a portal using reinforced deepslate but some sort of parasite came put of the portal and took over and infecting the city so the culture fled or died. The souls in sculk shriekers are the souls of the people who died and the wardens were the protectors of the culture but were overtaken by sculk.
