Takthur comes from the Old Norse "takþúrskjorð" (alternatively "takþúrskjærí"), coming from "taktŕsźxődx" from the indigenous language, meaning "people of power". For the most of their history, Takthur were once incredibly violent tribe, although they have become less hostile in more moden history. When Roman Empire colonised the now-Gamindustri islands in 12 BC, the Romans were under constant siege by the Takthurs for most of the Roman province's existence. When the Vikings arrived in 729, they mostly keep a distance with the tribe, although they do loads of trade with them.
Many Indigenous Takthur peoples are traditionally hunter-gatherers, but many groups practiced aquaculture and agriculture, as well as many created monumental architecture, large-scale organized cities. Some had varying degrees of knowledge of engineering, architecture, mathematics, astronomy, chemistry, technology, writing, physics, medicine, planting and irrigation, geology, mining, metallurgy, sculpture, and gold smithing.
They are notable of bright hair colours due to frequent use of flower hair dyes, they connect the style to their spiritual way of life.
