I just thought of the funniest idea for games to use in the place of journal entries to add lore:

Talking parrots.

The lines would be very vague, but it would be funny to play a horror game where you get all of the lore from a bunch of parrots.

Thats actually not a bad idea. And it would also be cool if there were different kinds of the parrots that when they gave you some lore, certain ones would give you items.
