Two examples of this spiritual blindness:
I recall this conversation someone had with a Jehovah's Witness about the Trinity. It was on the stoning of Stephen (read about it in Acts 7:54-60). “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”(said Stephen, v.56 NIV) The Jehovah's Witness asked, "WHERE IS THE HOLY SPIRIT"? He had read from Acts 7:54 thru 56.
"But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God." (v.55 NIV) Where is the Holy Spirit he asked [full of the Holy Spirit].
And another conversation I recall someone having with another Jehovah's Witness. The person who was having the conversation with the Jehovah's Witness purposely left out part of a passage from the scripture being quoted. He quoted part A (Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God,) and left out part B (and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.). John 17:3 NIV
The Jehovah's Witness corrected him by telling him he left out 'and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent'. Satan had blinded their minds, keeping them from seeing the truth of who God is. The hope is that the Holy Spirit opens the 'eyes' of folks like them.
"And He, when He comes, will convict the world about [the guilt of] sin [and the need for a Savior], and about righteousness, and about judgment:" --John 16:8 AMP
