Excuse me? If they are Christians, then by definition they are saved! Obviously there are many who call themselves Christians, but they aren't; they only fool themselves, But God cannot be mocked, and that's why the Bible says that our Lord will separate the wheat from the chaff. Luke 3:17

Fair enough.

Christians means followers of Christ, I guess the only true followers are saved.

All I will say is if in fact you are an atheist, and you NEVER receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior before you die, then the only eternal place for your soul will be hell; and therefore, this world will be as close as you will get to knowing heaven. On the other hand, those of us who have humbled ourselves and accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, then we will see the eternal Heaven and be there forever with God as His children. In that case, this world will be the only "hell" we will see, other than the Millennial Kingdom of Christ on Earth after Armageddon.

okay, first of all I want to say this is not me challenging you, this is me being curious... how exactly did Jesus save anyone? I don't understand his impact

First of all, my answer is NOT my opinion, it is from Scripture. God created the Universe and our planet, as well as Adam and Eve, who sinned and caused the whole Earth to be cursed and under God's judgment. Their firstborn committed the first murder! Eventually, mankind multiplied greatly and became so evil that God flooded the Earth (Noah's Ark) and started all over again. The Bible says the wages of sin is death. It's not that people die and that's the end! NO, God created our souls to last forever, so in that respect, "death" is eternal separation from God. Those who are separated from God end up in hell. Eventually, God gave Moses the 10 Commandments, knowing full well that people would not and could not live by them; but the purpose was to make people realize that we could not save ourselves. God required a sinless life to pay for the wages of sin, so Jesus Christ; the Son of God comes into the world as a Savior! He was born (Emmanuel = God with us) of a virgin according to prophesies and lived a sinless life although tempted just like everyone else. (Old Testament of the Bible: Isaiah 7:14, 8:8, 8:10; New Testament, in Matthew 1:23). His impact was so great that He divided time/history in bC and aC (before Christ and after Christ)! No other person could have done that! But His real impact was that He was crucified, died, and was raised from the dead to prove to the world that He conquered sin and death; and is the Redeemer of souls, and Savior to all who sincerely accept Him as Lord and Savior. Our time on this planet is brief, ETERNITY is FOREVER! We must decide here and now if we trust ourselves, or if we put ALL our trust in Jesus Christ! READ the Gospel of John! I pray the Lord will guide you in your search for the TRUTH. Jesus = Lord is Salvation. Christ = Messiah

Okay, I definitely understand this... but besides the division of time, which is simply a known date for a split, I don't see how Jesus affects our lives on earth... he greatly affects our lives after physical death, by helping us redeem ourselves, but what about his daily impact? He didnt change the course of history much. In addition, you didn't answer my second question, mostly restated what you said before

His impact was so important that He divided history... bC and aC (before Christ and after Christ). God created Adam & Eve, and because they sinned, the whole planet is condemned, under judgement. Their firstborn Cain committed the first murder (Genesis 4:1-15)! Eventually, God, knowing that we would not and could not obey Him, gave Moses the 10 Commandments for us to live by anyway, so that we could come to the realization that we NEED God to save us from eternal hell. The Bible teaches that the wage of sin is death. It's NOT that people die physically, and everything ends there, but rather people's soul (which God created to last forever), will be eternally separated from God who created us! Jesus Christ, the Son of God, knowing that no one could save themselves from sin, came down from Heaven to live among us (Emmanuel = God with us), Old Testament prophesy of the Bible: Isaiah 7:14, 8:8, 8:10 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel” (which means, God with us); New Testament fulfillment of prophesy: Matthew 1:23; (Jesus = Lord of Salvation), (Christ = Mesiah). He lived a sinless life for 33 1/2 years in order to satisfy the wages to God for all of humanity's sins! Bottom line is there has NEVER been a person that can save themself! That's why God offered His Only begotten Son... John 3:16. I encourage you to read the Gospel of John and seek the Lord while there is still time. I hope this helps! May the Lord help you in your search for the TRUTH, because life on this Earth is short, but ETERNITY last forever, and we must choose in this short lifetime where our soul will spend eternity.

Okay, so he was created in order to make up for god's... shortcomings? and he was a truly good and selfless person, but besides helping us in the afterlife, how did he positively affect humanity? And I understand that Jesus is there to help people who deserve to get into heaven even if they have sinned, for everyone sins, but some people have sinned so greatly they do not deserve to go to heaven. However, why does not believing in God count as such a high sin... if I am a morally good person but I have one differing belief do I deserve to burn in hell for eternity? It doesn't really seem fair and rather biased.

Jesus was NOT CREATED! He has been with the Father since the beginning! The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one. You will have to read the Scriptures to learn this because it is a mystery revealed to those who seek the truth. God has NO "shortcomings"! If so, He could NOT be God! NOBODY deserves to go to Heaven: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) That's the reason for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which describes His mercy, grace, and shows the way to the Father and Salvation. God gave us free will, and that's why Adam and Eve and the entire world has a sinful nature (since the fall of Adam/Eve). "No one is righteous— not even one. No one is wise, no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” (Rom 3:10-12). As for "some people have sinned so greatly...", once again, trust the Bible and read it for the TRUTH: "There is no sin too big that God cannot forgive. When Jesus died on the cross, He died to pay the penalty for all of the sins of the entire world (1 John 2:2). When a person places his faith in Jesus Christ for salvation, all of his sins are forgiven." Lastly, I ask you this: Was it fair for Jesus Christ to die in our place having NEVER committed any sins? God created EVERYTHING and as such He determines "the rules" on how to enter His Kingdom. The ONLY way to enter is through the acceptance of His Son who He sent as a sacrifice to save ALL those who REPENT of their sin and accept His Son. To answer your last question: All "morally good people" who die WITHOUT Christ will NOT be in Heaven. God says our good deeds are like filthy rags! Hell will be full of "morally good people"! NOBODY can EARN Heaven! It is a FREE gift from God for those who believe and trust in Christ. It would be an abuse of God to send His ONLY Son to die... if we could be "MORALLY" good enough to save ourselves! Think about it! Not believing/trusting in the Holy Spirit (the Bible) to accept Jesus Christ as Lord AND Savior is the UNFORGIVABLE SIN and it's called blasphemy! At the end of our days, each one of us decides where their souls will spend ETERNITY... READ THE BIBLE! START WITH THE GOSPELS!

Okay, I will read the Bible... I've never read it before (my family raised me as atheist, and I'm 16) but I still don't understand why not believing makes you deserve to go to hell... I honestly don't think anyone deserves hell, no matter what they did... if you are a so called bad person in life, it is either because you are very broken inside, or because you are scared. God would heal all of this... so whats the point of hell? I think I will form my own opinion after reading the Bible
