I don't understand the image context but I don't understand why people are complaining about her being black like sure it's different from the original but does that really matter they just wanted something different for a newer generation

Nobody cares what color the little mermaid is. People are pissed with Disney trying to destroy all their old movies in the name of political correctness.
From editing old Disney movies to make em more woke, when they put em on Disney plus, to rewriting all the Disney princess' in the remakes to make em perfect at everything, Disney is leaning into destroying the past to justify an imaginary present.
Disney knows they have a garbage script for their mermaid remake because they hired political activists instead of writers. When they rewrote Ariel as a perfect "Mary Sue" who's already the best at everything they destroyed the potential for an actual character arc.
But rather than fix that, they're gonna sell it as "black lil mermaid" and call anyone who doesn't pretend their garbage remakes are 5 star oscar winners is "racist."

That's literally not at all what they're doing all they wanted to do is mix the movie up to make it more distinct and sure the movie is probably gonna be bad but having a black character doesn't automatically mean you'll be deemed as racist for saying it is

Using a black actress? Great idea.
Using a black actress to cover for a garbage movie since no critic would dare admit that Disney's garbage remakes are garbage for fear of being ostracized from the woke Hollywood community, for "racism"? Garbage.
