Did God cause the comet that killed the dinosaurs? What if the flood etc. were similar events?

Hello, there is a good timeline documentary on YouTube that talks about the biblical plagues in Exodus in this context. The entire documentary is 90 min but if you skip to about 30 min in they give a scientific explanation for how the plagues may have happened. It’s still gonna take you 20 minutes to watch but it’s interesting if you are into that sort of thing.

Hear me out: I don't believe God willingly destroys things or even encourages people to kill eachother. What if the Old Testament was all made up to make people fear God more? There's such a polar difference between the God of the OT and Jesus in the New. How do you understand the Bible? Was it really inspired?
