people _r_us announcement template v. 2.784 | Pissed; Alright, hear me out, homework is illegal. At least in America, it is stated in the Declaration of Independence that "...endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." Homework effectively infringes on all three of these rights. It takes away our right to life, by essentially taking away all of our free time. It takes away the right to liberty, by taking away the control in our free time we had. It also takes away our right to the pursuit of happiness, by making it nearly impossible to do things that make us happy on a regular basis. It can also make it impossible for us to do stuff that is way more important and actual school, such as a sport or marching band. We live in an age where the entire school system is antiquated, as we are no longer in an industrial revolution. Also, homework (as kids in America know it today at least) is based off an Italian punishment method.

Hence why you're drained after doing 4+ sets of it.

And yet, you're still encouraged to read (for fun) for 30 minutes, perform physical activity for 60 minutes, and get 8 hours of sleep, while doing 3.5 hours of homework per night, attending school for 7 hours, and waking up as early as 5 am to get to school on time.

And that's before extracurriculars, college prep, and a part-time job.

Now, encouraging studying and reading is just fine, but in cases like what my history teacher gave us, where we had to do a 10 page study guide and were not allowed to do it at school, that should not be allowed.

Agreed. I enjoyed education, I just don't agree with what they're doing with kids now.

Ten... pages.... how is that allowed? Has anybody questioned it?

Apparently not
And several of the questions didn't have the answer provided in the textbook excerpt we were given

Nah, someone's gotta say something. To prescribe external research is one thing, but this sounds almost deceptive, like if you tried it in class, you would have to find out that the textbook didn't have the answer and the teacher would feel called out.
