I'll be honest. Guns are a hobby of mine. I enjoy antiques more myself more as an art observer. I enjoyed the level of craftsmanship you could find on older models. I say this because my family owns a rifle that has been passed down for generations is a rifle hand-crafted by Mr. Winchester himself. It was so alien compared to what I knew of rifles (.22s, 30.06) I understood bolt action. I understood shotguns, I understood lever action. It was during a time the assault weapon ban was in effect, we didn't have access to AR-15s or similar weaponry. I didn't see an AR-15 until 6 years later. Just in a gas stop selling guns on a rural highway. My bus stop for school. Later, I asked how old I had to be to have one. Eighteen. Two more years? Sweet. That was back in 2003. My father wasn't around at that point. I digress.
This winchester is a beautiful gun. It was a long octogonal shaped barrel on the exterior, had a stand that descended to a disk before the trigger. If not a "pod" (as bipod is a two stand mount) then I wouldn't know what to call it other than "Stand."
I've followed rifles and various type of weaponry in the knowledge and the theory of their use and capabilities simply because since I've been an adult, it's not a hobby that I could afford to get into.
Crime does exist where I live, but we accept the risk as being so negligible that the phrase "rather have it and not need" doesn't even apply. I've got other things I want to spend my money on. So, Admittedly, I watch a lot of youtube videos about guys using different weapons of different strengths (I love seeing some good tests on .50 caliber rifles or what some of the latest tech is. I am really interested in the EMG-02, to see whether or not it'll be domestically viable and how this new tech could impact modern warfare. I could give a bunch of reasons why it won't, but I find it more fun to think on the side of "Barring the negatives, what's the potential in positives?"
Yup. I may not have a whole lot of experience as some others, but I have fired 9mm, I have fired .44s, I bullseye empty shotgun shells at 25/50/100' (last one not so much) irons only. I enjoy rifles just fine, I'm just not as enthusiastic about it as others, I suppose. Or, maybe I'm more practical. I prefer the classics. 9mm is about where I stopped. I enjoy a good heavy revolver more. I enjoy the classy design of bolt action rifles with wooden stocks and frames. Sure, you could do all that with an AR-15, but I 1/
