Ukrainian forces are good. Well armed and well trained, but Russia's failures are not because Ukraine is strong, but because Russian soldiers, leaders and commanders are, badly equipped, poorly trained and the ranks are full of the lazy and incompetent.
At it's full potential Russia would have defeated Ukraine within the first month of fighting. It was Russia's lack of planning, ailing morale, inexperience, corruption and overall logistical failures that has led to this current disaster. Even western sources will admit this was Russia's mistake.
It is clear that Russia isn't ready or capable of completing the operation.
In order to win at this point Russia needs to mobilise and put their economy on a war footing. If they don't take the gloves off they will lose more than if they just continue on this path current disastrous path.
Putin won't mobilise because it will make him appear weak and force him to admit that his forces failed and his leadership wasn't up to the task. The man needs to swallow his pride and do what's best for his people and be the leader he needs to be. The forces need re-training and the officer corps renewed to clear corruption and save lives on both sides.
