Cold food, warm water

Actually, your food and water are going to room tempature, its just you prefer your water to be cold and your food to be warm most of the time

Actually the food and water itself aren't "going" to room temperature, but the air particles in areas of higher densities (hotter places) are getting moved to areas of lower densities (colder places) thus equalizing the environment and bringing your food to room temperature. This is also what causes wind.
