I'll only be sold on electric cars when they can be made with a re-charge time of 5 minutes or however long it takes me to fill up my Toyota at the pump and get a 250+ mile range. You bring up totalitarianism: another way of controlling people is limiting how far someone is able to travel without needing to stop. Think about the horse-and-buggy days. People were hampered by that. There was a reason why cars and the steam engine (trains) were invented.

Up until a few years ago the concept of states telling you you couldn't leave your home or your state BECAUSE REASONS, was just what we said about communist dictatorships.
Then the plandemic gave the government a real taste of "central planning" and they're hooked. They can never go back to not being in control of every aspect of your life.
As we speak, certain states have already started gearing up for another winter of lockdowns. Long after the CDC has admitted, all the mask BS was only true about N95 hospital grade masks and paper masks did nothing, schools are getting ready mask up kids again. Bureaucrats want total control of every aspect of your life.
