(This one isn’t as good as my other two but it was a bit rushed, Sry for the late reply)
Nightstar: *Goes to sleep*
Nightstar stands in the middle of courtroom, his mother on the podium in front of him and his brother to the side. He listens to the murmurs of the people watching, worries that his mother will be soft on him, and the normal talk of how evil he must be. They wouldn’t be worried about bias if they had seen how much his
mother threatened him with the dungeons.
His mother clears her throat, “Nightstar, you are hear under charges of attempted murder. Specifically attempted murder against your brother, Dawnsbreak.”
That made the watchers talk, talk about how greedy he must be to want the crown, how he couldn’t handle being second. How they weren’t even surprised.
He quips, “Attempted murder? It was just a little spar mother.”
Nightstar’s mother sighs “In the middle of the hallway? With killing blows? Really Nightstar?“
He opens his mouth respond, but his brother Dawnsbreak interrupts.
“Enough mother, I am not pressing charges. By your law any crime committed against a royal may be pardoned by the royal.”
“He tried to kill you, he can’t just get away with that.”
“With all do respect mother, Nightstar couldn’t kill me if he wanted to no matter how hard he tried. I surpass him in magic and weaponry.”
He smirks, and with a sneer he speaks, “Thank you for your pity oh great and perfect brother,” he circles Dawnsbreak, “Now I will take my leave, as there are in fact no charges against me.”
“No wait that’s not what I-“
Nightstar walks over to the shadows, the crowed quickly parting for him, and sinks in, not waiting for Dawnsbreak to finish his sentence, not sticking around for his mother’s withering look, or the crowd’s aghast whispers.
Why had he attacked Dawnsbreak? He was angry he supposed, furious, furious that his brother got everything. Dawnsbreak was always the more skilled one, the more powerful one, the eldest and most suited for the crown. The kingdom adored him, while they hated Nightstar. Everyone favored Dawnsbreak, even their own parents. But that was fine, his brother could have the glory. Nightstar didn’t need anything or anyone.
The crowd had jumped straight to him wanting the crown, unsurprisingly. It wasn’t like he thought he could kill Dawnsbreak, his brother was right about one thing, he couldn’t if he tried.
Nightstar emerges from the shadows right at the entrance to the dark forest, he had run in when he was young
