That's what the US government has always done and always will do. During the Watergate scandal, the Washington Post was "fake news". During Trump's term in office, every Democratic news outlet was "fake news." Now, the Tucker Carlson show is "fake news."
If you let the government tell you what fake news is, only the government will be real news. That will always happen and that has always happened. Russia is just so far the only country to outlaw "fake news"
There can be fake facts, but every news broadcast is real.
