Humans where first on mars, but we f**ked it up so badly that we had to move to earth. So humans built a giant escape shuttle which than while crashing became the meteor that killed the dinosaurs. The few humans left alive could salvage literally nothing from the wreck, so they started humanity over on a different planet. Now the effects of time made humanity to completely forget about this possibility.
