both is good, beta has some dark lore which is quite interesting and some beta stuff are left around in the retail version.

if gabe decided to let his devs to continue to work on the beta version instead of completely scraping it, it would've been interesting but instead we just get epic combat without the creepy dark depressed post-soviet world.
