Can't help but notice that you didn't actually give the full story of what happened in those schools before soliciting opinions.

Oh sorry. Students at this school suffered sexual abuse, neglect, starvation, physical abuse and more. The Canadian government was doing this as a way of committing cultural genocide. Children were forcibly taken from their parents and many never even saw their parents again.

It's responsible for years of shared trauma that has plagued the Native community. Many argue that the current actions being done to make up for the crimes that the government did are not enough.
