While I agree such anti-weed laws are ridiculous, she knew the risk going into Russia. And if Russia is as huge an enemy as Dems make out, one would think they'd not be so fine and dandy in letting go of a war criminal on her behalf.

Exactly. They interfere with our elections, jack up our gas prices, and attack small countries that may or may not have business dealings with the US on a federal level, but we can afford to release a potential threat back to his homeland without serious repercussions to our country, right?
