In days of early photography, the exposure time was three seconds -
If you count out loud, 'one elephant, two elephant, three elephant ' that is three seconds.
In the US, I believe they count in 'mississippis' :~)

Yes I understood. Maybe Chevrolet is too short a word. Aston-Martin, that takes a bit longer to say!

It's a bit ironic that Mississippis were chosen as saying that makes you smile, and all the early group photographs I've seen, they resolutely don't smile!

Early exposure times were very long so holding a smile would be difficult, hence :~(
