story; How we got here:; 1. The US government spent at least $2 billion developing and manufacturing the vaccine for the national stockpile. 2. The Food and Drug Administration has refused to import the shots after it failed to inspect the plant where the vaccines were made. 3. The FDA then refused to accept the inspection results from European Union’s regulatory arm, which deemed the facility safe. 4. The FDA refused to budge, even though it accepts EU certifications for other products. So the vaccines remain at the manufacturing facility. 5. The result: $2 billion wasted and protection from a spreading disease squandered!
