Uh, you do realize he is not President, right?

Every sane individual knows he legitimately lost the election, yet MAGA still refuses to believe it. More disgusting, however, is that corrupt GOP officials are still pushing Trump's 'Big Lie' for self serving social, economic & political self interests. The Watergate hearings dramatically turned public opinion against Nixon; the J6 Commission is doing the same thing. Proof of such is that just two nights ago, Cheney received a standing ovation post her speech at the Reagan Library in CA, by an audience almost entirely composed of Republicans.

Big lies are what politicians do - Hillary's emails and computers; Hunter Biden and the big guy; Putin's inflation; Obama's you can keep your doctor and you'll save $2,500/yr; W's weapons of mass destruction; LBJ's Gulf of Tonken; Bill's "I didn not have sex with that woman..." When Trump began acting like a politician instead of a leader he lost credibility for a great number of those who voted for him. Holding a kangaroo court "hearing" is not a legitimate use of tax$ andr reminiscent of the Mcarthy hearimgs of the 50's - an embarrassment.

Yes politicians lie and I've never once defended any of them for doing so. Trump's lies however, are beyond the pail. He literally conspired to pull of a coup to illegitamately stay in power. If that doesn't concern you, then you have zero comprehension of what that would have done to US democracy had he succeeded. The US as you and the rest of world knows it would soon be gone.

Had their been an actual coup, the Army would have been called out - was it? Had there been a real threat of an actual coup, Pelosi would have agreed to call out the National Guard. What there was was a disgruntled failed candidate that no one in power listened to and a group of stupid people would stormed the capital with no guns. Not one person was arrested inside the capital with a gun. The vast majority of the people entering the capital were actual protesters swept up in the moment entering the capital illegally - a great deal of them facilitated entry by capital police.

It was ugly at that point. But no one raised weapons to take control. Most wandered around and then left. The hearings today is to do nothing other than prevent Trump from running successfully for President again. While that is a goal I support, the hearings are nothing more than propaganda by the party in power - politicians using valuable taxpayer money (borrowed from China) to push their agenda to stay in power.

Uh, no. What you're describing is what's often seen - internationally - in far less developed economic nations aka "3rd world countries" wherein the military takes control of the nation under the direction of some dictator & is called a 'coup d'etat'. What Trump & his allies did is known as a 'self coup' wherein they ILLEGITIMATELY attempted to retain power via ever potential & illegal means possible.

You're wrong if you think these hearings are purely partisan & only about preventing Trump from ever running from office again. They're much more than that. This is, quite frankly, about the very survival of US democracy as a whole going forward.

As a kid, while learning about Nazi Germany, I could never understand how so many citizens ever blindly bought into their rhetoric & willingly turned a blind eye to all the travesties occuring. I do now, because I see the exact same BS being replicated and occuring in the US today.

PS... In case you're unaware of the fact, Trump & his conspirators were actually plotting to declare 'Martial Law' - which would have nicely fit in with what you perceive to 'an actual coup' but were prevented from doing so solely due to uncorruptible high ranking GOP officials within his administration.

I've seen no actual evidence of this nor any backing by a military leader.

Where have you been? It was all over the news in December and January.

All articles are about Michael Flynn AFTER he was retired and no longer holding an official position. Yes, he and his lawyer were in favor of radical ideas because of their belief the election was fraught with fraud. Official Trump advisors - both political and active military - argued vociferously against any such action. Trump agreed with them. A good decision by him and the correct position to be taken by his advisors. However, it should totally be looked at as a reason to never elect Trump again. He gave way too much credence to wild speculation with little substantive proof. But was it criminal for him to discuss with his advisor all options to problems they perceived with the validity of the election? No. Was it a concern radical groups took Trump too literally? Yes. A big contributor to this is the great divide between political factions that exist artificially created by politicians (of all affiliations) for the purpose of creating fear in order to retain power.

While I was never surprised by any duplicity Trump, et al, presented, I was, however, shocked & disgusted by the depth and breadth of the corrupt complicity within the GOP party to go along with it.

You make many valid points which I fully agree with. Trump had every right to pursue every legal option available to him - which he & allies did in the 65 legal suits they brought, 64 of which they lost - which should've dissuaded him from pursuing the matter further.

It didn't, even when his own appointees from the DOJ, WH Counsel, Cabinet members, State Judges, etc, had all told him there was no evidence of massive fraud which would have changed the outcome of the election. Rather than accepting that information, Trump double downed via pressuring State officials to do his bidding. Ethical Republicans refused to do so; corrupt ones willingly supported his lies.

After that strategy proved to be a failure, he sought even more corrupt ways of retaining power via embracing Giuliani, Sidney Powell, John Eastman & others unhinged illegal attempts to retain such, banking on SCOTUS ultimately saving his ass, given he'd appointed the latest 3. They didn't, which led to his next plot for January 6th; not only initiating the fake Elector scheme - which Pence refused to go along with - but also ensuring there'd be a large outraged crowd willing to go to the Capitol in his defense to disrupt official proceedings & try to prevent Biden from being declared the winner.

What truly disgusts me is the extent to which so many GOP politicians nationwide have gone along with Trump's lies - for self serving purposes - knowing full well the truth but refusing to ever expose such. They all need to be kicked out of office and/or prevented from every attaining such in the first place.

While I understand how it disgusts you, it surely didn't surprise you. Politicians of all persuasions follow the most popular wave - regardless of truth. Since LBJ - Gulf of Tonkin, Nixon - 1968 I will end the war in Vietnam when elected, Reagan - arms sales to Iran, Clinton - (enough said), G.H.W. Bush - read my lips, no new taxes, Obama - you can keep your doctor, G.W. Bush - WMD, Trump - (enough said), Biden - I'm a moderate...

I suspect what you really want to see is the GOP actually succeeding in their next attempt to steal an election.
