Well one thing is for sure, we are both smarter than or current president. My shoe is smarter than him.
Software dev is a good career to get into right now. New developers are getting fewer and fewer. That's driving salaries up.
The *possible* downside is artificial intelligence. Once AI become widespread it will replace a lot of jobs. I am pretty sure that software development will be hit pretty hard by AI. However, there will always be a need for AI programmers. Well... that is until Skynet goes online and AI starts building Terminators to hunt down Sarah Connor. 😂😂
I'm only saying that because I think AI will become a regular part of our lives in the next 10 to 20 years, maybe sooner.
But right now there is a pretty high demand for software developers and most companies are allowing you to work remotely, from home. It wasn't at all like that before the pandemic but since it is incredible how many businesses will allow you to live anywhere you want. I just switched jobs about 3 months ago and even though the company that hired me is no too far away, I was sending out resumed locally and all over the country for jobs. The company I work at now only asks that I come in the office one day out of the week.
