We've come a long way from trying to make people who are gay (and/or left-handed) something they are not to accept those individuals (um- slowly but steadily on the accepting of people's sexuality and gender- But it's progress.)

Besides, even I've come a long way from a kid who didn't understand much to a very much not cis queer young adult.
It's progress, after all.
With time, maybe folk will be more accepted?
