Do we need a basic minimum income, before all the jobs are gone for good?

The idea is good, in that the economy should work for people, and not vice versa.

Nope. demand destruction like in the oil business, prices can only go so high before people cant afford it and stop using it. Basic means just that, folks dont need to sleep in a tent, or wait for the soup kitchen to open in order to eat, but if one wants a car they are on their own. Keep your eyes on England, they have a few pilot programs going, 4 day work weeks too.

I mean, possibly wouldn't be a terrible idea. AI taking most jobs is in a word, unprecedented, so I suppose some experimentation might be necessary. I'd be interested to see if demand would shift more to luxury items that might market themselves as "hand made" or "authentic" and jobs could be created there.
