In general women are more sexualized in all forms of media than men.
If you pick a random photo of a women you are going to get big breasts and a very attractive build
If you pick a random photo of a man, you are MUCH more likely to get a random body type

Can you just let people do what they want?
If someone wants fanart, they can make it however they want.
If this is just to make it a little easier to distinguish, then that's ok.
And people aren't always thinking about that stuff, they oftentimes just want to make their stuff and have people see it.
