I think as they site got larger, trolls where attracted the hecticness of MSMG. Slowly as more trolls joined, it got farther away from satire. The owners and mods where hesitant to do anything about it, MSMG worked fine with few before.
Ultimately the growth of the site doomed MSMG, chaos, satire, and limited rules just don’t fair well when you turn the scale up

They removed the no homophobia rule

Never followed it in the first place

A lot of it were jokes back in the day when the rule was in place people just got pissy at the jokes
