I never was really freaked out by that. I also grew up with the DS version of SM64, so that might have something to do with it? Thwomps and whomps use the freak me out to where I didn't even want to play Whomp's Fortress.

Oh, yeah... I forgot about Big Boo's Haunt... The piano was kind of scary, but thwomps and whomps actually kept me awake some nights.
