Flipside is a world where humans and monsters were at war, but unlike LITERALLY EVERY STORY WITH MONSTERS FIGHTING HUMANS... the monsters won. The monsters knew they would win when they discovered how to do magic (that's what all the symbols in the image mean). Humans had to late of a start and lost the war because of that. Fast forward to year 976, the population of the continent of Sola reaches 4.6 billion. 88% of the population can do 1 type of magic, 10% can't do magic at all, and finally the last 2% can do all magic making them the strongest magic users in the world

The story is about a 13 year old alligator kid named Rathomus (or Rath for short) who is part of the 2%. He goes to magic school with his friends Sarah and Mat. Sarah is a human and is in the wind magic class with Rath, because she is a human she is constantly bullied. Mat is a orca who does water magic, he may or may not have a crush on Rath.

Humans are constantly trying to kidnap Rathomus, and use his power for nefarious purposes.
